with Historic Aircraft Collection Ltd
Between June 1940 and December 1942 Malta became one of the most bombed places on Earth.
The battle for this tiny island proved to be one of the most decisive turning points of World War II.[/CENTER]
The story of the epic finale of the Merlins Over Malta project, which saw HAC’s Spitfire and Hurricane fly to Malta to commemorate Malta’s role in the war, is told today in Hangar 4 by the last Spitfire and Hurricane pilots to fly from Malta.
HAC’s Spitfire and Hurricane will be performing a special flypast in the show today, following their safe return. This will be their first UK Air Show appearance as a pair in their Malta schemes.
Here is the timetable of events, so you can be sure not to miss this opportunity to listen to the stories first hand and see the photographs:-
10.00 – Hurricane pilot Clive Denney and Spitfire pilot Charlie Brown talk about their Merlins Over Malta adventure
11.00 – Screening of footage from the Malta epic journey
12.00 – Hurricane pilot and team member Howard Cook talks about his Merlins Over Malta adventure
13.00 – Screening of footage from the Malta epic journey
14.00 – The pilots will be available for a signing session (subject to air show changes)
15.00 – Screening of footage from the Malta epic journey
Also in H4 will be the Merlins Over Malta Corgi models and other project merchandise available to purchase, along with the Faces from the Blue charity calendar – featuring HAC pilots; Charlie Brown, Clive Denney & Guy Black
Accompanied by the RAF AT WAR re-enactment group who were present on the Island of Malta for the epic trip
