With interest I read about the efforts people make to try to find enough information to build a replica of the Stirling and Whitly. They use crash parts to make drawings, but what about using these crashparts? In the Netherlands there is a Messerschmitt 109 that is build by using almost only genuine Messerschmitt parts that were excavated. A few parts are new old stock.
Attached a few photos of the 109. Could this technique be used to build a Stirling or Whitly? Weight might be a problem but would there be many other problems?

I would have thought the structural integrity of an aeroplane weighing X amount of tons – considerably more, and bigger, and higher-up, than a Bf109 etc – would be the main issue here.
Isn’t that ‘109 based on a partially new-built airframe anyway? Or is that another I’m thinking of?
