Messerschmitt 109s, Black 6 and Black 2 (8 photos)

Just being trying out my first ebay purchase, a slightly ageing Nikon Coolscan III. Might not be the latest thing in scanning technology but it seems to work well enough. Still dependent on a good negative or slide though, these were taken on 400ISO print film and unfortunately it shows.

Not sure what all the options are for yet, anyhow here are my first scanning attempts. Taken at the end of Duxfords VE show in 1995, Hans Dittes Black 2 was escorted in by Black 6. Wonder if we will ever see a sight like this again?

Gareth

Great pictures brings back some nice memories of my time with Black6.
I was in the Lanc at North Weald and I have the video footage taken that day, the camera was fitted on the flare chute extension of the Lanc and only filmed the 2 109’s during the display.
Those were the days!!!

Doesn’t look like it I’m afraid, the only shots of Black 2 on the ground are of her parked up with the chocks in place. Oh for another opportunity!

If I remember correctly, it was on the Classic Aircraft 1995 video – I think that’s the title anyway.

Wish I’d seen either of these two airborne 🙁 Great pics, though!

Amazing isn’t it? Given the once in a life time opportunity and that’s about it for formation shots of both 109s in the air together, guess I must have been running out of film. These days I’d have filled as microdrive. I’ve got a few more of Black 6 on that day, back in a minute….
