I seem to have a very vague memory of reading something years ago that the Messerschmitt company (MBB?) had a flying example of the ME109 in the 1980’s. I think it was a G model.
Is this true? Or was it a re-engined Buchon? If they did have either, is it still flying/flyable?
Haven’t they recently acquired the 109G ex-Buchon that the OMFC operated for a few years in the 1990’s?

Thanks Kenneth,
That is a nice link. I would like to say that D-FMBB is going to appear at La ferte-Alais in france this year. Info on this is on the site of AJB:

Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) is now part of the EADS conglomerate. Ownership of their historic aircraft was transferred to the Messerschmitt-Foundation in the early 90ies but EADS remain operators of the aircraft. They have a Bf 109G-6 (D-FMBB) and a Bf 109G-10 (D-FDME; the aircraft that was seen on the British airshow circuit some years ago) and both are more or less Hispano-based. D-FMBB is said to have flown again recently and is scheduled to participate in the Berlin Air Show in May. D-FDME is grounded with a blown engine. Both are seen in public only very rarely. The MBB ‘machine’ was one Hispano with a DB engine, then damaged, at which point the rolled another Buchon airframe behind the engine, and carried on. They’ve never hidden their origins though, unlike a few others I could think of.
First incarnation the cowlings weren’t quite right, and without the cannon breech bulges, the second, looked better and were with.

I’m pretty sure it is a re-engined Buchon (which was a “G” with a Merlin, to all intents and purposes).
Is it still flying?

Ah, good point.
Thanks Dave, I’ll do that. I have read them before but must have glossed over that particular detail.
Cheers
