Does any one have any pictures of Meteor drop tanks, especially the stencilling on them?
Also does anyone know where there are any!

I made a similar request re belly tank stencilling for the NF14 project at NAM and someone kindly came up with a CD of images from a recent restoration project. Iโll try and check whether there were any details of drop tank stencils.

Sorry Alan my post was jokingly aimed at Roger – I’ve known him a long time! ๐
Anyway why wasn’t he at the BAPC meeting yesterday??? ๐

In our defence, the stencils were mostly ineligible,we know that the white line that went around the tanks at the seams says ‘trestle or support here’ in red and that it says ‘handle with care’ on the out board side, all of these were worn away when we started.
I did get a picture of this one though, which will enable us to replicate it.

Sorry TO – wanted (and had planned) to go but it wasn’t to be. Anyway the workday at AACF proved enjoyable. Did you go to NEAM for the meeting?
Alan – the tank I was involved with the lettering “..PORT HERE” (support here) was in black not red. Consul was taking photos of markings too.

No I didnโt make the meeting on Saturday โ too much to do at home.
Still no further updates from the NAM Restoration Manager but I will give him a chase tomorrow when Iโm over at the museum.
I already have a photo brief from Mr Marlee on the Gazelle so Iโll check round the T.7, FR.9 and NF12 to see what information is displayed on their tanks! ๐

Gents,
Sadly Iโve drawn a bit of a blank โ none of the Meteor under wing tanks at Newark (Meteor FR9 & NF14 only) has any stencil details applied. If your appeal is successful could you please direct details their way?
Also the CD ROM has also come up as a blank โ that project had excellent details for the central fuselage tank, but the airframe didnโt have any under wing tanks โ sorry! ๐

Drawing number
Just a thought, if you had the drawing (as stated as part of the stenciling) , it may provide clues?
