Meteor Powered Replica Spitfire…??

This is a new one on me…
Aparently there’s a Meteor up front for the sound, but the ‘prop’ is turned with a hydraulic motor…

…might that be a two stroke lawn mower used for some added “atmospheric” sound effects prior to starting the engine ?….Lol

Anybody have a gander at this site from Mk12 this page has a couple of items that if you had some spare lying around you could give them a new home…;)

The way I read it was, the full page article was an add by the seller. The small article a couple of pages further is a real article by Flypast.

Went to an air display ,i think it was North Weald many years ago and we heard the sounds of Merlins getting closer.Everyone dashe out of the tents to see what was coming in and it was one of the engine sound CD’s being played over some speakers at full volume, caught alot of people out including us 🙂

You could always fit a really good electric motor to turn the props fake or real , then hide some decent speakers in the front and play back an actual Merlin starting and running, would save some money :eagerness:

There was an add in this months Flypast of someone trying to sell some “new” Meteors. The add said they can be easily converted to flightworthy Merlins. I think not 🙂

As you said, the ad said they could be made airworthy, however the story said they couldn’t. Odd to see a public disagreement a couple of pages apart.

Anyone know more?

Sounds like a tank (I wonder why) – now all we need is a tank that sounds like a Spitfire. 🙂

That must have taken quite a bit of work to set up.

The prop blades are back to front, though, and rotating the wrong way for a Merlin Spitfire.
