Kabooom !

Some cracking clips from locally here. Blisteringly bright light, smoke trails above, then huge detonations, must have been quite frightening.

Yes:)
There were two men, who regularly go out in Death Valley, in the States, they have a length of wood, with a magnet on the end, their location exactly was secret, suffice it to say, they made a very healthy living from it.Just walking, and swinging the magnet from side to side, they found quite a lot.on top of the ground.

Some good footage there.. Did anyone use to watch Meteor Men on tv?. Those 2 American blokes who travelled all over the world looking for lumps of space rock and then selling some of them for squillions 😮 ..

If anyone’s interested? The closest asteroid pass on record will pass Earth at 19:00 GMT today (the Olympic swimming pool sized body will pass closer to the earth than the average geostationary satellite). Live NASA telescope Internet streams will be available.

Whilst most of the asteroids in the asteroid belt are well tracked and trajectories calculated, there are always a few that slip through the net – there are simply too many asteroids orbiting the sun to track every single one. Luckily for us, Jupiter’s high gravitational field attracts many of them that would otherwise hit earth.

It doesn’t matter how powerful we think we are we are still at natures mercy.
