Paul was a fantastic guy. He was my first instructor in Sydney, before moving to Queensland to do some RPT. He had decided at the last minute to celebrate his wedding anniversary in Cairns when he boarded the Metro.
I read the voice recorder was u/s. Investigation will go for ages. So sad.

I received a call from a friend of mine and found out that one of my instructors from flight school was one of the passengers. A shame really, he was a good pilot, instructor, and a fantastic guy. My deepest condolences to the wife of Captain Paul Norris (he wasn’t flying at the time), and the family members of those lost.
Cheers,
Paul

Police found the burnt out wreckage of the plane about nine kilometres north-west of Iron Range airport on the Cape York Peninsula late this afternoon.
None of the 13 passengers and two crew members survived.
The plane was travelling from Bamaga, near the tip of the Cape York Peninsula, but failed to arrive at Lockhart River.

Second metroliner in that region to go down in a week I think. Very sad 🙁
