Yes, bottom of the hill opposite the presently closed village shop–what happened there? I now have to buy my milk in Shillington.
Pop in sometime and say hello. Go in the gate–turn right and I’m down the bottom. My little blue car will stand there if I’m open.
back to aviation. I often wonder in idle moments what the sky must have looked and sounded like in the 1920’s when there were two squadrons of Snipes at Henlow and the School of Parachuting with Vimys and later Virginias.

I will do that, thanks. And yes completely off track but the shop was sold to new owners and is being fitted out as we speak, I believe it is due to reopen sometime soon. It’s where is used to get my RAF News! As for RAF Henlow, yes, it would have spectacular back in the day, I visited their museum a few years back and there’s some great period photos and artefacts, a very interesting base with great history.

We get a few interesting types still in the skies overhead still, warbirds routing from/to Duxford and also some helicopters (Merlins/Chinooks/Apaches) at low level which is always fun!

Rectory Farm Business Park.
We’re almost neighbours–do I know you..?
The almost legendary Preslent family are from Lower Stondon.

Indeed we are, I walk/run/bike past you most evenings and weekends weather permitting, to mepershall, Clifton, Henlow etc. depending on what I do. Not sure you know me though, although you’ll spot me with eyes pointing skywards even watching the Grobs from Henlow! Wasn’t aware re Preslent family!

Stan, I know a man who might be able to guide you towards one if you’re really interested.
I expect you realise even Comets don’t go for anything other than large amounts of wonga these days…. 🙁

I think these people have it about spot on http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=60&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=detailnosummary&fullregmark=HEKL

Which is most likely based on documentation submitted by the owner.

Thanks to coincidence, there is a replica Mew Gull at Henlow at present. It’s red, but don’t ask me the reg, because I don’t know–I can tell you that it’s nice though.
The Henlow circuit is right above my workshop at Upper Stondon and if I see it this week, I’ll grab the bino’s off the hook by the door and see if I can grab a reg.
I can confirm though that the Collection’s Mew Gull flew for about twenty ninutes for the first time in captivity last Thursday, and was flown by Dodge Bailey.

As a resident of Lower Stondon we try and not mix with the esteemed classes of Upper Stondon…….. So you on the road round towards the water tower?

I’m sure I saw it shooting a few circuits at RAF Henlow last Tuesday (15th)? didn’t get a great view due to the landing runway but looked (and sounded) like it from a distance.

Yes please Andy. I was there to see it arrive and wow what an entrance! That picture captures it all, grace, pace and forever ace, despite being on finals.

DCW,

I’d like a copy of that lower image in your last post to put on a canvas. Can you put me in the right direction please?

Avion,

Would you prefer it had been burned in the 70’s? Better rebuilt and flying or consigned to history?

Is it true that they are going to name it ‘Trigger’s Broom’?

LOL – its greatest feat was not winning the Kings Cup, that is for sure! It looks as if the release may have been longer, and was then edited, which has introduced the error
