Transferring the images to ‘my documents’ seems to work. I have a premium subscription to Photobucket.

I believe this is the first of the UK schemes, an adaption of the Belgian shark fin scheme.

Mark – you could try using www.villagephotos.com It’s much more user friendly than Photobucket, and I’ve never run into a problem with bandwidth issues.

Well which of the three, possibly four, variations of white over silver schemes are we talking about? See some of them within this thread of yesteryear.

Certainly I have air to air images clearly showing the over/under wing British Civil registrations as mentioned.

Any possibility of some scans of those pics??

OK having read the whole thread – did the book ever get published?

No, sadly, it has not. Several people have very kindly offered help, several material (many thanks to them) and there is a viable project. However it requires someone or a team to take it forward, and that has not eventuated, despite some promises (and one demand!).

I’d (still) like to undertake it myself, but the publishing job has gone from being a hobby (when the idea was proposed) to my main livelihood, and I cannot justify the same degree of charity work as a result, much as it would be a wonderfully worthy cause and a great book to do. I hope to make it happen one day, it is in the list of projects on the shelf.

For the record, if someone were interested in taking it forward as a project, either working with me, or with the OK of the other parties, separately, I’d be delighted to see that happen.

Since I posted that, I’ve found these two shots (apologies to their source – I have no clue where they originated).

Any further ideas?? I can convinced myself that it might say G-ASJV under the left wing, but there’s for sure nothing on top…

1. When she wore the smart white over silver scheme with the blue trim, did she carry her civil registration letters on the wings as would be usual practice on a civilian aircraft? I can’t make them out in any of the photos I’ve seen of her in this scheme.

2. Does ANYBODY have photos of either MH434 or a similar 222 Sqdn aircraft in full D-Day stripes? What I want to know is, did 222 slop the black & white paint right over the codes and serials, or did they go carefully around them like some squadrons did?

Forgive me if this has already been asked, or if I’m showing my ignorance, but am I right in thinking from the photos that MH434 originally had full, original wingtips when based at Hornchurch, and that these were removed for Dutch use, and replaced when she was flown as a historic?

I had previously thought she’s spent her wartime service with clipped wingtips, possibly on the basis of something i read in an airshow programme, but may have misunderstood. The photo suggests her wingtips were original whilst at Hornchurch.

Can someone tell me what is the trick? I have posted pictures in this forum in the past. I seem to follow the same routine. The only difference is that those were b&w and now it is a colour one. The file is a 25 kB jpeg.

As behind the closed doors at Historic Flying, there’s a fair amount of hammering, cursing and work going on on this one, but don’t worry, it won’t cost you 55 quid to see what the plan is. I hope to have an update later this week to share.
