MH434 flying again

Spitfire MH434 operated by the Old Flying Machine Company, carried out a successful test flight in the hands of John Romain at Duxford this afternoon, following winter maintenance and the installation of a new engine. Congratulations to the owner, operator and to all the engineers involved in getting this famous aeroplane back into the air once-more. 🙂

Someones got to keep you ******s awake in your sleepy hollow 😀

Couldn’t do it down your end as there would be too much dust blowing around and the spiders webs would get tangled up :p

Flying again today and again with John Romain in the drivers seat. ARCO were not directly involved in the engine change as OFMC have their own engineering staff. They did use our tie-down to make lots of noise though 🙂

Its great to hear she is back well done to all involved, I look forward to seeing her again soon, I think most people have a fondness for her.
Was ARCO involved with her engine change?, Or was John Romain just involved in testing?.
I have to say i missed her at Biggin this year she has become very much part of Biggin Hill airshows and i hope she will be at many many more as a tribute to Ray and Mark.

I’d imagine when you need a pilot asap, you want someone with currency, capacity and an understanding wife 🙂 Also helps I bet that there’s an engineer on board for any shakedown flight.

That’s good news. It’s shame it didn’t make it to Biggin Hill at the weekend.

Is there any Spitfire that John Romain doesn’t fly? I think he was flying the Kent Spitfire at the weekend and I see that he is now HAC’s cheif Pilot.

Thats good news.

It is indeed!
Is Nigel Lamb still at the helm at the OFMC?……I’m sure I heard a commentator at Biggin mention that Alister Kay is running things.

Alisters display in ‘Ferocious Frankie’ was a belter at BH….that said his displays always are, Alister, Lee and Nigel all fly in that Ray/Mark Hanna style ensuring their memory is preserved.

Great to see MH434 back.
