Having been in Miami last month reminded me of how much has changed there and in the whole world of aviation in the last 25 years
The glory days of Miami were no doubt the last 3 decades of last century, with propliners flying cargo to and from the Caribbian and all kind of jetliners jetting in from South America.
I have put some scans together, not the most glamoures planes at this moment but I think a good start, feel free to join in the fun.
There can only be one opener:

This last Chalks was actually on Bimini. Most pictures are from 1992.
If you have some images to share from this period please feel free to join in

What a nice selection of aircraft in the pictures! Love the BA 747 and the British 757 leased by Avianca? Which company had they leased the aircraft from? or who was the previous operator?

Some very lovely aeroplanes! Florida was always the place for exotic old generation types. Last century was clearly the best one for civil aviation.

I didnt know the A320 wore Air Canada’s old red livery!
Some true classics in there.

All the best wishes for this new year!
I hope everybody on this forum will find the time, the motivation and the means to see all the planes they wish to see.
To continue the Miami series, here are some more from 1992

Merry christmas to you all
thanks for the replies guys and great sets of photos Culpano
The scanning of the slides is something I have been practising for many years,
I have the advantage that I always used fujifilm which unlike kodachrome makes automatic removal of dustspots and scrachtes possible. The scanning is done with a Nikon Coolscan V which has 4000dpi resolution, though this is not needed for the relatively small pictures in this posting.
Processing is done in photoshop CS4, not a particular choice but this happens to be what I have. In most cases I have to adjust the levels (make the ruler start at both the left and right side) and I mostly apply automatic contrast to punch up the colors. The grain is reduced with filter/noise/reduce noise usually at level 4 or 5 setting. For some heavier cases you can use add-ons like noise ninja. The reducing noise normally also helps to improve sharpness, but sometimes the unsharp mask is needed to improve the image.
Here is another series. These have been on photobucket for several years so photobucket has been compressing them several times. Still usuable I hope

I saw this electra has been on the move recently to start another live as waterbomber.

Excellent old MIA shots there EC (I see you feature in one too…. the SAHSA 737 includes your shadow cast be the low sun). Nice Ecuador Army sabreliner there too luckily sitting just right for shots. I remember returning to MIA after previously having been treated to a good selection of South American goodies only to find that Iberia DC9s had started doing many of the routes.
How are you scanning these shots ? I mean what sort of resolution are you using and what post scan processing for removing the grain ? What typically do you do with one slide or neg… you know … scan at (whatever resolution)… a bit of colour/contrast correction … some (but not too much) smoothing to eliminate grain ?
