Michael Beetham Conservation Centre (Cosford) Open Weeks – Feb & Nov 2008

Hi guys

It’s definately L5343, although why it’s up at Cosford I’m not sure. I’m sure I saw pictures at UKAR of it at Hendon, wings and wheels on. Perhaps they had some ‘fit’ issues, as I know they were unable to test fit at MAPS. Perhaps someone can find out something during their visit?

The brochure from the visit says that they are strengthening the wing joints to stand up to 25 years of display, either on the undercarriage or hung.

I’ll be limping around there on Thursday, if all goes to plan

The open days come a week to late for me as I was only up in Telford for Scalemodelworld last Sunday. Typical!:mad::rolleyes:

The Battle was returned to Hendon in October.

I’m planning to go Friday.

I didn’t know they had a Battle at Cosford?!.

Which one is it? Substantial or small parts? The only others I knew of were at Hendon and parts in Linolnshire.

I hope this won’t be regarded as a zombie restart, but the November opening of the Michael Beetham conservation centre was highly enjoyable this morning. Unfortunately they won’t allow photos to be posted for understandable reasons but to see the work going on close to was excellent, and the people there were so friendly and helpful.

Battle, Hampden, Safety Launch, Farman, Sopwith Dolphin, Vampire, Me163, and a German WW1 I’m too ignorant to know what it is. Never having seen a Battle before I’m staggered at how big it is.

It’s open 10.15 to 1.00 until Friday 28th November, and don’t forget to gift aid your donation,. (And I have no connection.)

I am planning a visit on Wed 23 Jan probably around midday . Anyone fancy meeting up?

Does anyone know what aircraft are currently in the restoration centre and what their status are?

would have loved to run down for this.

but its too early in the year for a long haul on the bike – January is too cold and I’m not as young (or as mad apparently) as I once was.

if anything is going on slightly later in the year please let me know

Hmmm, xf382 has raised a very good point which puts a spanner in the works, namely, the dates promulgated are not weekends!!

Well, if anyone can get time off in the week place a post with possible days so we can arrive at a consensus.

Count me in,but would prefer saturday to avoid railway ‘engineering works’ if poss.;)

I would be interested in a forum meet at Cosford, but we won’t be able to get into the conservation centre at weekends, more’s the pity…… 😎

They have got some good stuff in currently as had a look round recently! Thoroughly recommended 😀

Just to let you know that the MBCC will be opening its doors to the public for two periods in 2008:

28 Jan – 1 Feb

24-28 Nov

Should be interesting. How about a forum meet up there on either Sat 26th or Sun 27th Jan? 1200 lunch at nearby pub then visit?
