hi,
can anyone help to prove my memory to SWMBO, I was at the MAM in Aug. 1979 and i’m sure there was a Hurricane fuselage V7417, also a Bf.109 fuselage which possibly could have been a replica(if they did replica’s back then).
Then at RAF Cosford museum June 1984 a serial WV156? (not in UK Serials), a German a/c coded IZ+EK, and a Canberra c/p WD931?which is currently being restored…
any help appreciated, regards,
jack…

The German aircraft was CASA 352 N9012P as “IZ+EK”. https://flic.kr/p/7YVb3C & https://flic.kr/p/6knkoz

hi windhover,
thanks again, good enough reason for only the fuselage at MAM if it was this one…

The Jet Age example BAPC72, built at Pinewood Studios, was at Bournemouth, albeit in external storage, the wings having been driven over by an airfield fire engine.
The wing remains were of a far inferior build quality; but the fuselage is much closer to the Hawker original build

The Jet Age Hurricane replica carries British Aviation Preservation Council Number BAPC72.
The replica was restored by the Museum as Gloster-built Hurricane V6799 of 501 (County of Gloucester) Squadron flown by Wing Commander K.W. Mackenzie DFC, AFC; and proudly bears his signature on the nose, a souvenir of his visit to the Museum in the late 90s.
He was a Patron of Jet Age Museum until his death in June 2009.

Hi Jack
possible mis-reading/recalling? Hurricane replica V7767 (BAPC.72), built at Pinewood for the “Battle of Britain” film, would have been at Coventry about that time. It is now called V6799 at the Staverton Jet Age Museum. The Bf109 replica could have been another “Battle of Britain” survivor – BAPC.67 was at Coventry, now at Hawkinge Battle of Britain Museum
At Cosford, I wonder if WV156 is a mis-recording of their Provost WV562? WD931 nose end is still there in “deep store”
Hope this might help
