A MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in the Tver region near Moscow on Thursday killing the pilot.
“The fighter jet was performing a scheduled flight near Andrianopol airport in the Tver region,” head of the Russian Air Force’s press service, Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky told Interfax.
A special committee from the Defence Ministry and the Air Force will fly to the site of the accident later on Thursday to investigate the crash, Drobyshevsky added.
The Tver Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a case to investigate the crash as the “violation of flight instructions or the flight preparation instructions with serious consequences”, an official from the Moscow Military Prosecutor’s Office told Interfax.
