MiG29M2 Vs Mirage 2000-5mk2

hello folks,

I have had this question in my mind for a long time considering the IAF plan to acquire 126 mrca. I thought the MiGs and Mirages stand the best chance because of IAF’s previous experience with them. Although God knows what will happen with the new offer from the U.S.

Also, while I have read many threads comparing the f16s and the Mig29s and one v.nice thread for comprsn betwn Mirage2000 and f16s, I haven’t had much luck finding educated opinions on how the Mirage 2000-5MK2 would compare against the Mig 29M2. Keeping in mind the IAF’s requirement what would you think is the best bet? Here is my humble guess –

MiG29M2
Advantages:
(possible Mkization like Su 30)
Probably considerably Cheaper (considering MiG badly needs a deal to go through)
TVC and Helmet mounted sights.
twin engine increases safety
Disadvantages:
Prior experience with russians with this a/c has not been the best.
does not have the strike capacity of Mirage
twin engine means more maintenance
twin seater means more training costs (but hey it offers more employment as well)
I’m not sure about the new MiG29s range (i’m guessing it is lesser than the MIrage 2000-5)

Mirage 2000-5MkII
Advantages:
IAF loves this a/c (with good reason)
better avionics?
better strike capacity
faster induction? (not sure cause the russians may move fast too)
Disadvantages:
probably more expensive
single engine (although considered v.reliable)

I’m not sure about which a/c has better radar, ew fit. I’m guessing the Zhuk M is comparable to the RDY 2. Under the above circumstances (if the induction speed is the same), I would go with the MiG 29. better educated opinions are welcome.

Kind Regards,
USS.
