I think the remains of the lift are still there.The flying field has long since vanished under buildings.

Thanks for that. It appears to have been written by a ‘non-aircraft’ person but is non the less interesting for that.

It suggests (at the end of the “Aircraft Production” page0 that the aircraft lift (pictured above with Austin’s first Fairey Battle on it) still exists – or maybe it’s just the site. Will have to try and find out.
