Mike Gorzula R.I.P.

Mieczyslaw ‘Mike’ Gorzula, one of the Few, passed away in Australia on 6 December.
Born in Poland on 1 August 1919, he joined the Polish Air Force before WWII. He fought in the Battle of Britain in 607 Sqn. Later in 1940 he moved to 229 Sqn, followed by 615 Sqn. In 1941 he was posted to 302 (Polish) Sqn in which he flew during 1941-1943, with a spell on night-flying Hurricanes in 87 Sqn during late 1941/early 1942. During his rest period in 1943 he was an instructor at 58 and 61 OTUs, and in late 1943 was appointed A Flight commander in 315 (Polish) Sqn. In late 1944 he took a similar post in 309 (Polish) Sqn. In April 1945 he was credited with destruction of a Me 262 jet, one of only a handful of Polish pilots to score this.
