Miles Hawks

Can anyone shed light on the fate/current status of the following Hawk and Hawk Majors?

G-ACRT (c/n 131) Hawk Last reported semi-derelict Kidlington c. 1960

C-FAUV (c/n 123) Hawk Major Last reported in store Canada 2002

CX-ACT (c/n 138) Hawk Major Reportedly under restoration Brazil 2001

G-ADAB (c/n 137) Hawk Major Scrapped (?) at Walsall 1947

G-ADBT (c/n 145) Hawk Major Derelict at Blackbushe c. 1946

Having delved into my collection of photographs, I can only find period images of one of these – C-FAUV in its days as VH-ACC – and of another, whose current status is well known, namely G-ADWT in its days as CF-NXT. So I am attaching copies of this in the hope of demonstrating that I can contribute to this forum as well as hoping to benefit from it!

G-ADWT/CF-NXT

This WAS in the Oshkosh Museum, but has been brought back to the UK and restored around year 2000 as G-ADWT, see link

http://www.aviastar.org/air/england/miles_m-2.php

G-ADWT is believed to have landed at dusk at Heston around 1956 i.e. 7 or 8 years after the airfield closed and flown out next day after a night in the hangar…..a strong candidate for the last fixed wing visitor at Heston

There is also another Miles Hawk at the EAA Museum in Oskkosh Wisconsin USA .
It is the former Canadian registered Hawk that was donated to EAA by Father McGillvary

Are you sure? I thought that the padre’s Hawk Major was CF-NXT and that this is now G-ADWT. But I’m prepared to stand corrected as I am making this assertion late at night without any of my reference sources to hand!

I can confirm that 1934 Miles Hawk Major CF-AUV is stored at Markham Airport , Markham Ontario Canada.
It has been there since the 80’s with no plans to restore it to flying condition at present.
It a, along with the airport is owned by the Thompson Coporation ans is part of a collection of things aviation. Managed for them by Al Rubin

There is also another Miles Hawk at the EAA Museum in Oskkosh Wisconsin USA .

F-BCEX

Can anyone shed light on the fate/current status of the following Hawk and Hawk Majors?

C-FAUV (c/n 123) Hawk Major Last reported in store Canada 2002

I have realised that the list above is incomplete. It should have included:

F-BCEX (c/n 129) – Hawk Major – Flew to France 1946; registered base Toussus le Noble but owner’s address given as Casablanca; registration cancelled in 1971 as “destroyed” .

Does anyone have any idea of the fate of the Hawks other than CX-ACT (now displayed as G-ADAS in Brazil)?

Guess you have seen this webpage from the TAM museum.

Looks like the restoration is finished to a good standard. Unfourtunately the page looks spanish only.
