hmmm, drink it all lol.. no, i agree, I dont believe anything is cheap,and the work is well worth it in the end, my only personal problem is ex wifey went and got me up to our.. or should i say MY neck in debt, a lesson learned you could say .. so I have to start small, and bit by bit,

I fully agree, it’s what you want and then go for it. I have been working on that Halifax project for 11 years now. If I knew then what I know now I probably would have quit very soon after, but with hindsight it has all been worth it.

You just have to set a goal and then go from there, it takes money as well and lots of it, but what else will you do with it. Put it in the bank, throw it to the Lesbians, drink it all????:D

That is true… but the Brigand in question is a fuselage only, so no engines to deal with. Must be the lagging around certian ductwork I guess.

That is odd indeed! I was not awere of a complete set of Miles M.2 Hawk drawings. I´ve talked at some lengths with Peter Amos regarding Miles drawings and what I said earlier was what he told me. Maybe the Hawk drawings were not mentioned because they were not what I was after. If I´ve got this wrong I appologize!

Generally speaking, no complete drawing for ANY Miles types survives*. All Miles drawing were burned by the administrators when Miles was made bankrupt in 1947. The Hendon archive probably will reveal nothing.

*The only exception is the drawings for the Miles M.11 Withney-Straight, but a more-or-less complete set of drawings survives in New Zealand. The reason for it´s survival has probably something to do with the fact that the NZ Air Force impressed 3 aircraft at the start of the war.

That’s odd – when Julian Temple (now of the Brooklands Museum) was employed by Adwest Ltd to catalogue the Miles Aircraft archive held at Woodley he found an extensive collection of photos, drawings – including those for the M.2 Hawk – and other material. This had all been locked away since 1947. EMK Aeroplane Ltd had permission to build one flying replica of the Hawk from the available plans. It may be worth contacting Julian for confirmation or otherwise.

David, i wonder if the U/C indicator is a hard one to find.. could a resin replica be made to fill the gap until a real one comes along??.. like Rocketeers marvelous Panels he built from scratch.

thunderbird, interesting one of you had allready started the idea of a panel for the brigand, really interesting.. the info out there for this bird is hard to come by.. would be interested to know more.:D.

From memory of the Bigand when it was at the North East Aircraft Museum the fuselage had suffered from some crushing near the front. This would make it difficult to take accurate measurements.

The fuselage was also pretty stripped so I can only imagine that any asbestos must be lagging on the few remaining pipes, although I would have thought that there would have been few of these in the fuselage.

I know that one member of the North East Aircraft Museum did also start to construct a representative panel in the early 1990’s. I am not sure whether this remained in his private collection or is in the museum store
