I was going through my files and I couldn’t help but see the vast amounts of quotes I have collected over the years. I have noticed quite a few AFM members seem to have a fondness for military/aviation quotes as well. If any of you would like to share some, it would be great.
Here are some of my all time best.
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not shoot,
The courage to shoot the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies.”
“There is no problem that can not be solved using high explosives.”
“Life is the leading cause of death, anything else is a contributing factor.”
“A sucking chest wound is nature’s way of saying that your cam & concealment is not up to scratch.”
“A2S, – Adjust To Survive.”
“Mors certa, hora incerta.”(Latin: Death is certain, the hour uncertain)
“Dulce et decorum pro patria mori est.”(Latin:It is sweet and glorious to die for my country)
“Hard pressed on my right. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuver. Situation excellent. I am attacking.”
“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself”
“Maybe you could find one woman in ten thousand who could lead in combat, but she would be a freak, and we’re not running the Military Academy for freaks” -William Westmoreland, former Superintendent of West Point.
