over the years the military has experimented with ways to give the ordinary soldier a way to get over obstacles. today the troop chopper does this in the air mobility role. one thing that comes to mid though is the rocket pack used by one man to fly for 30 seconds using a dual propellant rocket.
has a one man back pack with rotor blades ever been successfuly tested and flown before? id imagine the design with two or more baldes, maybe a contra prop unit to stop the gyroscope effect. what engine/poweplant would be used? id guess the engineering is possible but would it ever be a feasible design for the modern battle field? endurance would be an issue but for special forces it would be a great weapon.
