Milkstool at Fowlmere

Moggy, is that your group’s Piper lounging in the hangar at Fowlmere that I saw yesterday?

I was picked up from there for the Student fly-in organised by the forumites of another well known magazine (without the word ‘Pilot’ in the title) and popped in the hangar to use the facilities.

Got a good couple of hours in very busy airspace going to Blackbushe and back, very murky on the way down, but much nicer on the way back got to play with GPS and Autopilot for the first time:cool:

(The man from Southend refusing to relinquish the engine without the money)

Sounds like a very sensible chap….

Buyer to Car salesman. ” I’d like to buy that Porsche 911 please”
Car salesman. “Certainly Sir, that’ll be £90,000”
Buyer. “Is it ok if I just take the car and let you have the money later?”
Salesman “Feck right off”:D

A large part of the discussion on Sunday centred around which bits of their aircraft didn’t work and how much it was going to cost to fix them….makes club hire seem somewhat less stressful!
The Colt at Fowlmere was complete save the cowling.

I must admit to liking the atmosphere/setup at Fowlmere, more a Gentleman’s Ariel Carriage Touring Club, than a flying club. The Fleet starts at Piper Archers and goes upwards and the strip is lovingly maintained, it felt almost as smooth as Conington’s lumpy tarmac/concrete:D

Aaah the joys of flying, Moggie.

Sez he with the Tipsy permit renewal in April…..the Pushpak permit and 50 hour checks in May and four new wings spars to pay for on the BE2! 😮

Sorry, been away for the weekend.

Currently the engine is at Southend, the prop is at Old Buckenham and the residue is in the back of the hangar at London Knettishall International.

Once the nice men from the insurance company get their act together, so will come together the components (The man from Southend refusing to relinquish the engine without the money)

Then the nice guys at OB will hang the oily bits on the front (At a cost of around £1,600) and we can be back in the skies just in time to fly our zero-timed engine and prop Colt over to OB where about three flying hours ago it had an extensive undercarriage check after a heavy landing and they will charge us another £1,600 + VAT + Parts + anything else that can be dreamed up, to sign a bit of paper headed ‘annual’

🙁

Yes I understood it had been having some work, hence the question, there is a Piper maintenance org based at Fowlmere with a very nice Red Colt/Tripacer in there (amongst some verrry nice Mooneys, Senecas, Seminoles, etc), but I couldn’t remember Moggy’s reg. This was a 4 seater anyway.
Thanks!

Moggy’s group is ARNE, a two-seat Colt, now featuring a zero-timed engine. Cheapest flying your area!

No, I don’t think so, I think it was something like ARHR or similar
