Minimum PPL Age?

I was just wandering what age do you have to be to start your PPL????? What time do you start to build your hours? Tell me all. I don;t know very much about the PPL.

You could do what I did when I wanted to know what I needed to do to revalidate my licence:

Email your question to the CAA.

Get a response back, directing you to read LASORs.

Download LASORs from the CAA website http://www.caa.co.uk/srg/licensing/fcl/document.asp?groupid=292 (you need to click on section C)

Print it out.

Sit down with a few cups of coffee and read it through.

Get very very confused.

Send the CAA an email asking them to clarify.

Receive a reply back four weeks later that leaves you none the wiser.

So take a wander down to your local flying school who’ll be able to tell you exactly what you want to know straight away.

Me, cynical? Never…. 😀

Seriously though, LASOR’s is a good starting point, and should give you a lot of help initially. Good luck.

I started in 1982 at the age of 12. At the time in the UK you could not fly a light aircraft solo until you were 17 so I had to wait until I was 17 to complete the license.

I believe you can properly start your PPL at age 16. I always remember hearing tales of lucky young individuals who learn to fly before they can drive! Hours count from age 15 (?? or have I got that wrong? ) but no solo’ing until 16.
