The Tory party Co-Chairman and Minister without Portfolio; the unlikely named Grant Shapps, who is himself an enthusiastic GA pilot has called for interested parties to contact him with evidence of their wit and wisdom on the following subjects:
GA Pilots
Airfields
A/c maintenance
CAA
Airspace
Training & instruction
Historic aviation
Aviation Innovation
I cannot provide a link. Further information can be found on the LAA Website. To narrow it down, Mr. Shapps is soliciting ideas and suggestions for most aspects of General Aviation. There appear to be some concern that our numbers are dwindling and something needs to be done.
I will be writing to him on the twin subjects of ‘pilot licencing’ and ‘airfields’.

I agree, it makes a change to have a politician with an interest in our case. Yes his is a vested interest him being an active pilot. But then aren’t they the best kind of people to have on your side?

Apologies John.
I had responded, just didn’t note that here.
Schapps looks like one of the good guys.

I was rather hoping for a more vigorous response. Chaps, we do not very often get this kind of opportunity. A serving Minister, himself a GA enthusiast has asked for our views and opinions on various GA matters. This is the Govt. getting involved in open Government – for a change, something that surely we all want?
Let us support ths initiative. If you do write, would you please let the Forum know.
