After 22 years in storage and a 3 year ground-up rebuild,it was an absolute delight to see this beautiful Stinson 108-3 take to the air again this afternoon at Popham. Congratulations to the owners and all involved in a job well done.

That does look lovely; the cream and blue go together really well.
Massive tail fin, reminds me of a DHC-2.

Beautiful, love its popular name, ‘flying station wagon’. 🙂
ANORAK ALERT: 😀
That name was only given to variants of the 108 that featured a removable back sea, strengthened floor and mahogany plywood-lined rear sidewalls.

Good to see one restored, sadly there are still many that have not received that kind of attention lately.
However, I did see a lovely restored and re-engined pre-war variant, a 10A, that is on its way to a new home in eastern Canada, Ontario, I believe.

Funny, I’ve never seen (or flown) one without wheelpants. Google “Stinson 108” and click on “images.”
Must be you hosers still using all those mud strips.
Yes, well I’m obviously going to be careful what I write around here. Likewise, I clicked through many of my images of 108’s and couldn’t fine one with wheelspats. however they look really smart!

Beautiful restoration!
The Stinson 108 is fairly common in our part of the world (Ontario). One or two generally turn up at most fly-ins. But I cannot recall seeing one with wheel spats.
