Such a shame that Robs is selling up, but I wish him all the best. A nice chap although I don’t profess to know him. I managed to provide some “ballast” to the tailplane of Miss Helen on the fateful day, and I can definately say the only problem I noticed was trying to stay sitting on the tailplane with the Merlin at max chat!

Damn shame if true. Has Miss Helen actually been repaired though or is it much in the same state as when it was returned from Duxford?

If thats true then in a way its a shame he’s bowing out quietly. Robs has been around the airshow circuit for many a year including our first (albeit brief) glimpse of a privately owned Buchon on the circuit.

Yup rumour is he has lost his licence on medical grounds, so he is selling up.

Robs is in the process of disposing of all his aircraft. His Fokker Triplane replica G-ATJM, went to a new owner recently and appeared at La Ferte Alais.

I heard that was going too… Isn’t he selling up?

‘Miss Helen’ is still registered to Robs.
At the time of the publication of the AAIB report, the engine fault hadnt been positively identified, it was noted that ‘Miss Helen’ was fine during tail-chase routines, but that the fault manifested after the formation work , ‘Miss H’ had just taken part in the Balbo when the incident happened.

Does anyone know what was wrong with her (engine) to cause the heavy landing?
By: CeBro - 17th June 2010 at 14:58
Isn’t that one in North America at the moment?

While at Dux yesterday (Saturday) noticed she was being dismantled, with prop removed and a team working underneath. She was still on her wheels, but a hour later (at closing time) a 7.5 ton van had backed into the restoration hangar. This wouldn’t be big enough to take the whole ‘plane.

Isn’t this the airframe with a Dutch wing? IIRC it came from the Technical University Delft collection (from whence 😀 also a P47-wing came now fitted to the IWM-example at Duxford, the Tempest fuselage, Mosquito FB VI, the Stirling control column, and many more interesting bits).
Cheers

We moved the aircraft to Hangar 5 today. She will now be taken apart for the trip back home. And yes, it was as cold as it looks!

bad news. Hopefully robs has a plan for her but from what i gather a fair amount of work needs to be done.

Still out in the cold as of Friday 28th November – slowy getting covered in bird crap. If she’s going to be left out for any length of time, how hard would it be to rig up something to at least stop the birds using her as a dirt tray.
I cannot believe that some hangar space can’t be found for her……
Not how you’d expect an aircraft with a true WWII history to be treated……

Hey Laharve we may have seen each other that day 😉
