A search is taking place near Oxford for a medical plane which is overdue. Let’s hope this has a happy ending just before Christmas.

Mike,
I’ve only just seen your last post, so sorry for the delay replying.
I saw Tom at Enstone a few weeks back, looking much his old self. It seems he’s generally well on the mend, other than a bit of a gammy arm from the accident, and hoping to be back flying before too long.
Thanks for the update Mark,if you see him again please give him my regards.
I had a libelle based at enstone 90/91.
cheers baz v

Many thanks for the update. It’s good to know he’s well on the road to recovery and hopefully he’ll be able to go back to work soon

Just been reading about the Tri – pacer crash in another thread and got to wondering if anyone has heard any news on Tom? Hopefully he’s well on the mend now if not actually back to flying duties.

A quick update for those who know Tom. The Oxford Mail showed a photo of him about a week back. He’s back home looking surprisingly well after what he’s been through. Still got a bit of scaffolding on his arm and maybe some internal meccano but still looking well in spite of it. Just hope his recovery continues to go well with no set backs.

I was about to remark that it is amazing how many people know him or know of him in some way until I remembered just what a small world the aviation community is for all the numbers involved. Get well soon Thom.

Wishing him a speedy recovery and hope he is well enough to spend Christmas at home, thoughts are with him and his family at what must be a difficult time. God speed Mr Miller:)

Yes, me too. Bumped into him a few times when I’ve been working at Oxford Airport. Always seems a nice enough bloke and always willing to have a chat if he has time. Just hope he’ll be well enough to be home with his family before Christmas and that his recovery is swift and complete.

Damn, I knew Tom Miller when I used to work at Enstone.
Top bloke.
I do hope he pulls through.

The Oxford Mail (one of our local rags) mentions that it was a Seneca and then goes and publishes a picture of a PA-28. If they can’t report accurately I’d rather they left well alone. Have to give the powers that be at the university full marks though, they actually isolated the area so that the scene was not contaminated by outside influence. That will be a help to the AAIB, thinking about it though it was probably done at their request, can’t imagine the Uni being that switched on somehow.

The pilot is reported as being in critical condition. According to the report he was flying from ‘Portsmouth’ to Oxford. Mr. Miller previously owned Enstone flying club.

I think all us would go along with your sentiments Mark. Hopefully he will make a full recovery very soon.

Pilot was Tom Miller, who is stable but under sedation at John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford.
Tom used to own Enstone Flying Club, and is a real nice guy. I hope he recovers soon and my thoughts and feelings are with him and his family at this time.

I don’t like the sound of that ‘the extent of his injuries is undetermined’ bit. Doesn’t sound good, just hope he turned out to be OK once they got round to examining him.

As best we can tell came down amongst the trees. A happy exception to the ‘It’s better to crash into woodland in a single’ rule.
Pleased he’s alive, hope he’s undamaged

PA.34 Seneca. Airmed stated he is a senior pilot.

That’s good, at least the pilot survived. Any news on the a/c id?
