Missing news

Anyone have a clue what happened yesterday?
No?
Mirror Group Newspapers have finally settled a case at High Court, London, concerning phone hacking of 29 names by the Daily Mirror, paying out around £500,000 – did you read it in today’s papers?
No. Not unless you read the Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/nov/17/mirror-publisher-settle-phone-hacking-claims-les-dennis-natasha-kaplinsky) or the Press Gazette website (http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/steve-mcfadden-natasha-kaplinsky-and-les-dennis-among-29-mirror-phone-hacking-payouts/) – the rest of the national press seem to be defending themselves from guilt by association and not even admitting the story ever happened. And it should be noted that MGN tried, like Murdoch did with the Sun, to disassociate its daily newspaper from the hacking it had to admit that it’s Sunday title had committed. But some of those who settled yesterday also have a case ongoing with News Group Newspapers – formerly News International, the Sun’s publisher, in case you didn’t know – so there is some good news for another day.
Just wondering how long Piers Morgan can carry on claiming he knew nothing about his old newspapers hacking habits when people are now being compensated for it…

Not publicising this case allows the public to forget the lack of respect for the law or grieving relatives that some of the national news groups exhibited – Milly Dowler’s answer phone, anyone?
