Missing – Rolls Royce Conway engine data plate – Newquay VC10 ZA148

Hello everyone,

Could I ask you all to keep your eyes and ears open for the small metal data plate discovered missing form our Conway engine here at Newquay. The engine was on display to the public and formed part of the Classic Air Force engine collection in 404 hangar. It is likely to have been gone for a while but I only discovered yesterday while checking the engine over with a fellow volunteer.

To say we are disappointed would be an understatement. We have been very focused on protecting the onboard ‘collectibles’ over the last two years. I must admit to having overlooked this data plate simply screwed to the side of the engine. Other RR engines here seemed to be pinned on and so more difficult to remove.

I have attached a photo of the data plate below. It is approx 6×4 inches in size.

Please spread the word that it is out there somewhere in the hope someone may feel inclined to see it returned.
