Missing Spitfire….

The latest FlyPast has a story on the Champlin Fighter Museum aircraft being folded into Seattle’s Museum of Flight.
One aircraft noticable by its absence was the ex-Irish two seat Spitfire.
Does anyone know which Champlin aircraft ARE NOT being put into the MoF, and what happened to those planes?

I’ll do you a deal. If you correct the spelling of Oskosh above (it helps when searching for research), I’ll delete this comment.

OK kids, now you’ve lost me. Is this a British thing? Something to do with peanut brittle?

On the museums website, the spitfire is reported to be part of the collection, but it is reported not to be in the museum in Seattle. So a temporary trade makes perfect sense.

See the link of the Seattle museum of flight:

EAA, Museum Of Flight Trade WWII Fighters

You can find more details about the Ki-43 & Spitfire trade on the EAA web site:

The ex Irish two seat Spitfire 159 (RAF serial MJ772) of Doug Champlin, was reported in April 2004 as moved to the EAA Museum at Oshkosh on a two year loan arrangement.

Can anybody confirm?

Mark

Yes I have just had confirmation from a fellow EAA member in Oshkosh that the Spitfire is in the EAA Museum positioned next to the (prototype) Mustang.

The Champlin two seat Spit has indeed gone to the EAA museum in Oshkosh and, I believe in return, the Ki-43 Oscar has gone from the EAA to the MoF.
