You’re going to get a visit, Mr.P……..;) There’s nowt wrong with MV268 she’s just on her annual. We’ve pulled the carb for a bit of work, which should be completed way before the season begins again.

MV293 or “MV268” which one are you calling it Reggie???:dev2:

I believe MV293 (the TFC MkXIV) has also adopted the “silent front end” modification, so maybe it will be a while before it’s in formation with BWB’s XVIII……..:p

We have chosen a scheme for the XVIII, and will publish in due course…the wingtips are fitted, and are staying on, at least for now 😉

That is a particularly beautiful example.

I love the lines of those early marks.

Think you’d better ad the TFC Vb EP120 to your “airworthy but not flown at the moment” list as it was lacking its “loud up-front noise making facility” last week and is by all accounts remaining silent for the coming months………

Is it winter maintenance time already!? 🙁
Crikey this year has flown by! (If you pardon the pun :p)

Talking of TFC Spitfires, the Mk.18 is looking rather lovely these days. It will be nice to see her in formation with the Mk.XIV in the next year (or so).

Two questions to ponder over however…
What livery will she wear?
And, will those wingtips make it into the air?! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

(Ps sorry to hijack the thread, it is Spitfire related! Besides, I’m not sure another Spitfire thread will go down very well!)

Excellent news!

So *dons Spitfire spotting hat* that makes it 5 Spitfire Mk.V’s ‘airworthy’ at the moment I believe:

Vc JG891 Tom Blair DX
Vb BM597 HAC DX
Vb EP120 TFC DX
Vb AB910 BBMF Coningsby
and of course now BL628!

The other two ‘airworthy but not flown at the moment’ would be:
Vc AR501 Shuttleworth (Currently being refurbed)
Vc AR614 FHC Arlington (Has this actually flown recently?)

I think that’s all the Mk.V’s at least!
I’m sure those better informed will correct me 😉

Well done to everybody at Avspecs, it’s a first class job, another addition to Mr Lewis’s fine fleet.

AR614 is regularly flown, and is kept in first class order by her operators.

Congratulations to all the team at Avspecs.

I have to be Honest……

Spitfires are not my favourite Warbird, the Hurricane wins hands down, but, I have to be honest, Im glad we now have another Spitfire in the air. Well done to all concerned youve done a cracking job.

She looks a beaut…

I,m speechless. Finally she flies….Thanks Mk12.And thanks to all involved.Years ago Peter Crosier came up here gathering up Spitfire parts.Don,t know if many reached it to the airframe but gives a small satisfaction seeing the Spit fly.Now to await all the stunning air to air pics amongst the NZ landscape..:D
Did they get a handle on the niggling UC bug?

That’s good to hear Mark – thanks for posting. 🙂

So, what does that make the total number of airworthy (by your definition) Spitfires in the world, now? :dev2:

Cheers

Paul

Paul,

Forty-three currently can be considered ‘fully airworthy’ in 2007.

That is Seventy-One Spitfires flown since the Battle of Britain Film of 1968.
