Chaps,
Does anyone know of someone who will be willing to make & paint a Short Stirling model for me with customised squadron markings. !!!
I have fingers like pork sausages and the creative skills of a snail. I want to present the model to an ex Short Stirling bombaimer who operated with and completed a very hectic tour with No.218 (Gold Coast) Squadron during 1943/44.
Any advice or pointers most welcome.

As it happens, I am currently engaged in building a Mk.II Lancaster to special order for a friend… 😉 😉
It is to 1:72 scale, using the Paragon conversion kit, and an Airfix Lanc as the donor.

If expense is an issue why not contact your local branch of the IPMS? – I’m sure you’ll find them (International Plastic Modellors Society) with a quick Google.
I should think there is probably a local modellor who would happily take on and relish such a task – particularly associating it with a member of the aircrew.

Hi,
If you can wait about 15 years I could finish one of the kits I have in the loft 🙂
As an alternative to the previous poster, ebay regularly lists unmade kits and there are a couple of small, ready built models that come up quite often. This would not help the customisation though.
Finally, in the back pages of Flypast there are ads for commisioned models.
Could you post a picture of the finished model?

Look no further.
A charming bloke called Murray Pine, at Old Warden at the weekend, showed me a model of a C131 he had been commissioned to make. Gorgeous!
Check out murray@customwings.co.uk or call him on 01284 756995
He’s your man.
Hope helps.
All the best
