Anyone here who is also into airliner models?
I am curious to hear what you collect and what you have in your room/house!
I have about 250 models ranging from 1:72 scale corporate jets to 1:250 scale 747`s.
Hope to get some info back!
Thanks

Well here’s my first attempt of a Seascape. Don’t look at the ship, it was supposed to be Tirpitz. It’s my second kit ever… Just to test this method of water-making, to apply it to my Pyotr Velikiy cruiser later.
It’s not finished of course, and I still have to add the bowwave and water next to the ship.
Also the painted Delta III. She’s this small that I couldn’t get a good picture of her. I’ll have to try it again, but she has lost her diving rudder and antennae due to the monster called “MOM”.
Today I started building the Akula, this is how far she is completed this evening, paint still wet. and of course lacking the lower part paint and masts. But that will be added next week.

Here’re some more pictures of the Kilo and close-up Sov, you can see the railings are sometimes a bit bent. It was the first time I worked with Photo Etched parts.
For the small Pauk II class vessel I made the flagstaffs myself. That was the first time I ever changed something on a model…
And also, the place where it all happens, a regular desk in a regular room with a regular paintbrush. You can see the USS Enterprise in the back.
The cardboard model of KNM Skjold…

From a computer graphics modeler to a REAL modeler: great work on the Kilo and Sovremny, Sev!

hmm, quite some story. I just found some nice modelbuilding plans for a Delta III, then, while doing a swimming practice, I was thinking about what material to use and what scale to build. I couldn’t come up with a nice material to use in a large scale… Then I saw this 1/700 Walrus, made by Jim Baumann (very famous for his extremely nice small models), and because I already made some missiles from the parts of my sprue, I decided to go for it.
It turned out quite nice and now she’s painted dark grey/black on top and it looks awesome. I also added the antenna (yes you can indeed hardly see those) and the shafts. I’ll post a new pic when she’s finished. I’m going to put a nice light brown/orange coat on the place of the sonar too, like done on this Delta IV and some other Russian subs:
Maybe my next one will be the Delta IV or Akula…

Why a 1/2400 scale DELTA III? Good to see you are using Humbrol enamels too. I swear by them!

Here’s my latest. I started building it yesterday and will probably finish her tonight or tomorrow…

Here are some others:
The A-50 (1/144 Trumpeter) with Kh-55 and S300FM (scratchbuilt):
Pyotr Velikiy in the background, still completing that one:
Velikiy during building process, she’s a bit too dark, although in the 2000 exercise with Kursk she was painted very dark. But still I might repaint her…:

There are indeed very few of these around… I hope to build the Tarantul class vessels too, but they are quite expensive at the moment.
here’s the Nanuchka you’ll surely love:

Sev, mate I really can’t remember but there are two in the box and they are very tiny (only 8.5cm long). I want to get a bigger one, but there aren’t that many down here of that particular type, infact these were the only ones I’ve ever seen.

hmm Dragon… I know they have a Pyotr Velikiy and other Kirov class models around in 1/700, but personally haven’t tried it yet. It was much more expensive over here than the Trumpeter 1/700 Pyotr Velikiy. But, I do know that it depends on country, sometimes the Trumpeter kit is more expensive than the Dragon one.
As for other ships, I don’t really have access to any other Dragon kits…
Ja, what company is your Nanuchka III from? I’ve seen a very nice one over at modelwarships, even with a Bridge that opened, with the officers and equipment inside, very nice, but it was scratch-built of course.

I tried to take a couple of pics of my Nanuchka III, but this digi cam is @$*#, so I’ll wait till I have some daylight and get some pics using my SLR, I’m in the process of restoring my PTB, shouldn’t take long, then I’ll post it

Love the SOV, and in 1/200 scale too! Has Dragon DML got any new Russian types in their range? Always been a big fan of the Russian types.

Here’s another one of mine. Personally, I like this one most… It’s kind of my baby.

As for people restarting modelling, this site and forum is extremely good. Modelwarships
Lots of things changed in the hobby lately. The Chinese company trumpeter is making nice models with sometimes revolutionary qualities.
At this moment I’m building a Admiral Graf Spee (my first and last battleship) Normally I only build Modern warships, especially Russian ones.
This is one of the nicest things I’ve seen. Certainly that way of water and environment…Tirpitz

Fair enough

I’ll get back to you Ja when I start building them again. I have not done any now for 8 years.

RE: Models
If you can still get it, there was a full list of the Variant numbers in the AW Boeing special last year. Maybe it’s still avaliable in the Key Aviation Shop?

RE: Models
Yep…the airlines’ personal ID numbers. Its the same for all aircraft types. The varients will have the airline number after the initial varient specification.
Qantas = X 38
BA (as u said) = X 36
