We just had a bunch of accounts spamming through PM, asking if you know a site.
Don’t click on the links !
Also, could you all be so kind, and list here the usernames, so we make sure those accounts don’t get used again?
Thank you !

Barracuda,
If your are sure it’s a Spam, right click on the address in the mailbox, and you should be presented with a drop down box full of options – including ‘delete’.

Just had one from Bellview..sorry to be completely ignorant but what happens if you open it?
Just don’t!
Unless it’s already well protected, there’s a strong chance that your PC would become infected with malware of one kind or another.

It sounds like they did manage to put something onto your hard drive Pete. Good job with the password change but make sure you do a complete adware spyware scan to be safe!

After checking the list, please note I had a PM from Westway Models several weeks ago before all this became an issue. I did look at it, it was merely an advert for their products listing some well known contributers on here as takers.
I didn’t think much of it at the time, I just thought it was a bit cheeky and deleted it without going any further, I did check as well that Westway were a bona fide company, which they seemed to be, thinking about it, it coincided with my pop ups increasing.
Note that I’ve changed my password, lets hope I can remember it!!

Youtube link again
How about posting a closed thread just with a continuously updated list of the suspect user names, just to be updated by the moderators so the rest of us don’t have to waste time reading through an ever lengthening tedious thread?

Chaps,
Just a friendly note, please go through this thread first to see if you recieved a pm from someone already mentioned here. If you have, then there is no need to post.

Just to put the activities of these spammers/destructors into context, it might be noted that in the world of computer hackers the very fact that he/she/it/they have managed to penetrate the safety systems of whatever website might just – in their world – be the equivalent of finding a complete Stirling (with 4 zero-timed engines), under a reinforced hill-side hangar somewhere in Nania! It gives them a buzz! They are not agin aviation research. Some of them are, eventually, brought to book. Hauled up in the courts and sentenced. Their computer expertise is soon used by ISPs (and even Govts!) to enhance their (and our!!!) safety procedures.
Just bear in mind the two mythical departments of the UK industry/military in WW2. One was responsible for Armour Piercing ammunition. The other was responsible for Armour Plating. As soon as one invented a Round that would go through the existing Armour Plating, then those guys were asked to provide plating that stopped that round. And so on for ever!
The spammers/destructors are (a) technically very adroit, but (b) intellectually lacking!
