[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-10-02 AT 08:29 PM (GMT)]Evening guys and gals
I’m sat here in my luxury…okay maybe not…3 bed semi in Cyprus…actually its pitch black outside but there are countless stars to look at… having just watched Castaway (the recentish film with Tom Hanks as a Fedex courier who gets shipwrecked…if thats the right phrase considering he crashed in a jet (moral, never get on a jet with him !!!)…on an Island for over four years), drinking a cold C*rlsb*rg and got to wondering if I could survive the same kind of experience. I’d like to think that maybe I could (even withought the basketball called Wilson) and what it would be like for the first few weeks…scary…aprehensive…exciting in an adventurous way etc etc.
How do you reckon you’d do and what would you ideally like to find washed up on the sea shore…apart from a brass lamp with a Jeannie in it…or E**e M*cph**rs*n !…my wish list is pretty long and highly unlikely but hey, as they say, stranger things happen at sea !.
On the subject of being a castaway, cast (pun intended) your minds back to the late sixties. There was a film (fiction)about a guy in the RAF (I think) who ended up castaway on the aytpical desert Island. He found an old submarine and his ‘Friday’ turned out to be a Chimpanzee he found on the wreck. I remember he also used to launch an S.O.S bottle every day down a bamboo chute contraption and I also have in mind a yellow Whirlwind (helicopter not twin engined fighter / bomber) somewhere in the film. Only ever seen it once (when I was very young) and wouldn’t mind seeing it again
Any ideas ?
cheers
Gary
