I honestly think they are having second thoughts about having user appointed moderators considering that a couple that were voted for have questionable online behavior that would undermine the responcibility of the job. Or they at least are having doubts about just how much authority to give the mods to clean up bad posts. I believe there is a danger to forum censurship, and it has ruined many good forums/newsgroups because there is a lot of grey area in what is considered inappropriate. I think the solution is to give the mods ignore powers and not delete powers. If youve ever put anyone on ignore in this forum (Ive actually had one of the elected mods on ignore before), youll notice that that person is not completely iliminated, but you can still see their posts, and their posts have a button you can click if your curious to see what they have posted on a certain thread. I think that would be the perfect way of cleaning up the garbage without censuring.
