Hi all,
Got back from a short holiday (actually it was cut short because of the terrible weather) in the German Sauerland. We visited the Mohne reservoir on saturday, the only day where the weather was reasonable, and admired the Moehne dam. There were some display boards there telling the story of 617 Squadron. But the dam itself is a magnificent sight to behold. One of the pics shows the direction the attack was carried out. During the visit the water level was almost at its highest and only about two metres from the top of the dam. It proves the great skill of the pilots when getting the mines at the correct spot.
Cheers

When I visited the Möhne dam in 2001 or 2002, I was suprised to see that the boards with the story of the Dams Raid were only in English and not in German. Is this still the situation?
Arjan,
Nee, nu ook in het Duits

Nice pictures, but you were at least a 1000 ft too high.
🙂
Low flying rules apply. We were legally 500ft above any person, vessel or structure 😉

I have some photos from the air 😉 I’ll dig them out if I can find them.
