Monarch 757's

Apparantly according to cabincrew.com Monarch’s oldest 757’s G-MONB/C are being retired before summer 2008 and replaced by 2 more modern 757’s.

G-MONB will soon be sporting a large forward cargo door & a purple tail, if my sources are correct, along with MONC.:)

It would be interesting if Boeing did buy back and preserve G-MONB, but all 14 earlier examples are still in existence, so I’m sure preserving one of the first couple would be more significant for them.

I think its all about the cycles MONB has done.

I heard that Boeing were very interested in Buying back G-MONB been the
15th 757 of the assembly line i think it makes her one of the oldest 757s in passenger service. They want to buy it back to well see how its lasted over time.

I heard they were looking for 2 Newer 757s to replace them, As the A321s dont quite have the Endurance of the mighty 757!

I am sure somewhere in the 80’s the once Britannia Airways stripped down a B737-200 into pieces and then re-built the dam thing again, claiming to be the only 737 to be built outside of the Boeing plant. Again Boeing had something to do with this to see what the airframe had encountered after many years service.

Would be interesting to see if the Monarch 757 is to test the same thing?

And I think they’re going to be replaced with A321s (they have some more on the way), rather than 757s.

NB and NE are not going to be scrapped. They are going to become freighters.

Im not really suprised at that,i flew on NB in 1983,rumers were thant NB ither went to Boeing or Duxford,IMHO Boeing will get the airframe as they want to inspect it in NDT for hours and cycles, as it’s the highest houred 757 in the world……………time will tell as to the disposal of the airframes.

Really?? Where from?? I seem to remeber hearing that finding spare 757s was becoming rather hard with FEDEX wanting a large 757 fleet.
