Monarch Scheduled appoints Tim Jeans

Some good news from Monarch Scheduled – oficially announced today……

Monarch confirms Jeans’ arrival 17 Aug 2004

Monarch Scheduled has said that ‘experience of managing aggressive growth in new markets’ was key to its appointment of former Ryanair/ MyTravelAirways man Tim Jeans as MD.
Monarch relaunched its scheduled arm, previously known as Monarch Crown Service, in 2002, signalling its ‘ambitions in the low-cost airline market’.

Jeans joined MyTravel as managing director of its new low-cost scheduled subsidiary MyTravelLite in 2002, before switching to the position of COO for the group’s airline division in June last year. Previously he was sales and marketing director for Ryanair.

Monarch chief executive, Peter Brown also said Jonathan Crick would become sales and marketing director for Monarch Scheduled. Crick was behind the division’s rebrand in 2002 and has helped grow scheduled services at Monarch since his appointment to the board as commercial director in 2002.

Other changes announced include the appointment to the Monarch Airlines board of Alan Murray, managing director of sister company First Aviation, and the change in Mike Dovey’s position from sales director to commercial planning director.

Well it seems my rather forthright opinions havent gone down to well at all in some quaters. I feel like a naughty school boy and I certainly have had my wings clipped!

I think its a bit of a shame that I cant let my personality shine through my posts and inject sometimes a bit of humour. Oh well, the boss has spoken so expect much more tame views in the future, if any.

I offer the olive branch. I think I got a bit angry with you and I shouldnt. I am just upset that the airline that I patronised and who had introduced MAN_GIB a route I fly quite often have chosen to go down the no-frills route, trying to emulate Ryanair and the like, when they had an excellent product AND competitive prices.

Im sorry x

ZB like all the other airlines are a business.
They are here to make money and survive.
If that means cutting costs and eliminating free meals, so be it.

Airlines are not here soley to feed your gut danairboy

Who makes you the judge and jury? My comments were as valid as yours or anyone elses. You wiped it, I suspect, because I said things which reflected negatively on your company and you didnt want others to read them.

I dare say you are miffed that you cannot delete MYpost regarding Monarchs declining in-flight standards!

Have a read of the code of conduct at the top of the forum please Danairboy, your opinions are welcome but shoving them down other members throats will see you disconnected.

DannyBoy

These forums allow any author to retract threads started by them. This is only the second time I have felt the need to do so. I don’t make a habit of it.

The reaon I wiped it was because I was not happy with some of my own posts in the last thread as well as some that you had posted.

Seriously, I am not miffed in the slightest that I cannot delete posts from other members. That’s just silly. I accept that moderators only have that access. If I couldn’t handle other people’s views, why would I even bother visiting the forum in the first place? Feel free to re-post your posts on this thread if you so wish, but without my own posts inbetween.

Word of mouth can be pretty powerful, my grandmother who like many pensioners pops over to Spain all the time, especially in winter will now no longer use ZB because like me, she used to love the Monarch breakfasts and the red wine you got with your dinner!

Also, she being a bit of a snob, used to like the feeling that she was going with a quality airline but knowing she had a competitive price!

I didn’t want the debate Interflug. I didn’t think it was a particularly good read and suspect that was why no-one else had participated much in the thread. I respect your (and most other people’s) views on this forum, Interflug, even if I sometimes have a differing opinion. You may share the same views on low cost airlines as danairboy, which is perfectly fine by me, but what I cannot stand are posts that are pointless and/or ill-informed and that was the way that last thread had gone, in my opinion. I posted the notice as exactly that. I perhaps should have left it that way and not have been so easily goaded.

Well I am angry that he saw fit to play censor, it seems he uses this board as a means of advertising ‘his’ airline and odes not like any views to be expressed which might taint ‘his’ airline!

I don’t want to get “partisan” about this but lively threads are all part of the fun UNLESS they get personal. But as Dusseldwarf says it was his thread, and we all have the right to retract them…..Hopefully not too often though otherwise its going to get very boring!

Unwanted by who????????? There were some good points in there, yours included. I know we all have the right to delete, but was it really necessary in this case?

No, my first thread was a notice that turned into an unwanted debate. I think the last thread wasn’t suitable for this forum after so many pointless and uninformed posts by you. As the author, I am entitled to delete it as I see fit – and I saw fit to spare people from your inane drivel. 😀
