dark light

Money, money, money – it's only money !

Our old friends The Taxpayers Alliance have, as always, their x-ray vision focused on Government spending of our cash.

The TA are ‘celebrating’ ten years of Govt. scrutiny by announcing the publicatiuon of ‘The Bumper Book of Government Waste’.

Last year – I think that this refers to 2011 – 2012 the TA uncovered £120 billion (why is it now always billions, have millions gone out of fashion ?) of taxpayers cash squandered/wasted on useless projects of one kind or another.

Or, to put it another way, that is £4,560 per British household.

I set this fact against the begging letter I wrote to Ian Duncan Smith pleading for a modest increase in the pensioners personal tax threshold. That was last year. I’m still waiting. I don’t think that this time, it is anything to do with the Royal Mail.

Mind you, 200 pregnant women ‘soldiers’ recently sent home from Afghanistan, must represent a significant chunk of wasted cash!

Now we know what some of them do with their time.

Re 5

That doesn’t, in the slightest, surprise me. This has to be part of the 120 billion that the Taxpayers Alliance is chuntering on about.

You can put this down to either: the lack of contractual know how on the part of one or more of the contractees or, excessively clever and abundant contractual knowhow on the part of the other contractees or, it’s only taxpayers cash – which is a bottomless pit – so it doesn’t really matter anyway !

Why not ask the Taxpayers Alliance? They should have the answer. Joining this not-for-profit group is a worthwhile exercise. They do ask awkward questions and are much respected in Whitehall.

Yes I will send the forms for you to sign. Please remit the £4360 admin charge with you completed paperwork. As you seem to be in the know, how much is being spent paying BAE Systems by the MOD for a contract they can’t get out of for Nimrod spares? I have heard the above several times now from workers in Filton and I would like to know if has any credence.

Yes. I see where you’re coming from (excuse the grammar). £200 does indeed compensate for £4560. Are there any more vacancies on your particular accountancy course ?

Yes, I am ahead of the game but, thanks only to the gales of ‘hot air’ that reach me from certain quarters of this Forum – what could I possibly mean ?

No doubt he is waiting for you to pop your clogs John, that way, he will save by not having to reply, and waste money on a Stamp.
