Wasn’t to impressed with the photos I took inside the hangers on my last visit, naff weather conditions on the day and Ummm wrong camera settings. This time I set the camera on ‘Auto’, firmly secured it to the monopod and held it up high to get a different perspective. Not as high as I would like as I need a longer shutter release cable. I did try the 10 second timer, but with the weight of the camera and holding it above my head, shakes set in.

With wall to wall sunshine when I arrived, by lunch time the cloud had rolled in. As I was eating my shaved! cheese and pickle sandwich outside, I could see towards Stansted, the rays of the sun producing shafts of light through the clouds. As an experiment I turned the AV setting down on my camera to catch the rays. It was not as dark as it looks. I was going for the clouds/rays rather than the aeroplanes.

They look pretty good what camera are you using though?
I also would say stay off AUTO and use a slower shutter speed as it lets the light in but if you suffer with the shakes on a momopod keep on with AUTO.
Also get a remote shutter release not a cable as they allow quicker response and i find better shooting especially if you are holding it on a monopod.
