Saw this on another forum today, made me chuckle muchly:
(OK, slightly inaccurate as 13 were launched, but yeah – just makes a point!)
OK, if you think that one is funny, check out the REST of them:

All conspiracies have a little bit of possibility, that’s the appeal.
Here’s one that came true….
At the time of the Iraq scuffle in 2003, many people said that the Iraqi forces collapsed too fast, even after a little bit of shock and awe. Rumours were that the Iraqi leaders had defected and that the crowd surrounding the statue pull-down were US based Iraqi’s or look-a-likes.
Whilst I totally support the Iraq tidy-up, it transpires that the Top Brass of Iraqi forces were indeed bunged.
The trouble is, that was the honour of the uniform.
The US didn’t expect (Despite being told by UK) all the scum to leach out of the ground with their IED’s.
Money, it has no flag and will usually win.

I feel that some tragedies, eg Kennedy’s assasination, Lady Diana, 9/11 etc create such shock and surprise that human nature can’t accept that chance or fellow humans could have been so cruel or random.
Looking for conspiracy theories is in a way their way of coming to terms with the horrific occurance. I wonder if a similar thing happens to some people with fantastic acheivements like going to the moon for instance.
You may have a point – although I would leave the Diana conspiracy off your list. In her case, I first saw the seeds of the conspiracy theory being sown by a spokesman for Mr Al Fayed, now you might ask if he’d spotted the early signs or if he just wanted people not asking questions about his hotel and his security.
On a programme debunking the Moon Landing Conspiracy, one of the proponents for the fake story said that we simply did not have the technology at the time to get to the Moon. So either he cannot grasp the level of technology we had – as you suggest – or NASA did a far more remarkable thing in getting to the Moon with stuff that was only just capable of doing it and riding on a lot of luck. Probably both.
It was a good programme, straightforward evidence taking apart every single one of the arguements being put up – much as the thread did here.

I read through the thread of three years ago, thinking first that the original poster was just indulging in some serious winding up, and then with the growing feeling that, ye gods, he really does believe in all this! I am amazed at the restraint shown by many of the posters: I am a moderator on another (non-aviation) forum and I know how easy it is to get carried away when faced with bone-headedness of such a high order. Well done everyone.
At the risk of opening another can of worms, did anyone spot the theory doing the rounds quite a few years back that the Wright brothers’ pre-1906 flights never took place, as a result of which the first sustained powered flight was therefore by Alberto Santos-Dumont?
One of the supposedly serious newspapers gave it half a page. I managed to get a letter in the following week pointing out that there plenty of eyewitness and character witness reports to the Wrights’ early flights, but it still raises my blood pressure even now to think about it.

Agreed…anyone with half a brain should realize …that of the trillions of planets out there in Universe …the Earth can’t be the only one that’s inhabited
But would it not be genuinely awsome if we were?.…….

Just a thought.

This at least proves that Hubble can be turned and pointed at something at relatively short notice, something that wasnt planned in its schedule, so why not the moon sites ??
Jesterhud it has, try this link it will explain all.

That 2006 thread was this forum’s finest hour…various people doing research to persuade 666 and his friend.
Of course, I’m sure it had about as much effect as trying to teach quantum physics to my basset hound…but nice try.
BTW: Did we ever learn what the “biggest hoax” was?

I am amazed NASA cant find time in its schedule to point Hubble at the moon and take some detailed photos of the landing sites to shut people up once and for all.
Theres no way it’s gonna shut any of the fools up, it’ll only drive them futher into madness.

And it it was a fake…NASA then pushed its luck by doing it several more times????
Really, how could anyone believe it?
Someone would have talked after all these years…after all, look how many “friends” sell out celebrities for the sake of a few quid and a headline in a tabloid.
BTW: If you haven’t seen it, look at the Mythbusters episode on the moon hoax. It’s great.

These so-called conspiracy theorists are probably the same people who believe the Holocaust never happened and that Elvis is still alive and working in a McDonald’s in Carlsbad California
It seem everything has its own conspiracy theorists pulling it apart, its part of the modern world. Its partly built on a distrust of everything our leaders tell us and partly built on the fact that people just like to knock achievement anyway.
I have always thought its amazing that the cold war literally led to man getting to the moon,It shows good did come from the bad in this case.
Lets be honest at worst if the moon landings were faked and its a HUGE if then we are celebrating 40 years since possibly the best hoax ever done, Now thats worthy of celebrating as much as anything:D.
