More buried planes available!

Lifted from another forum, I give you this rumour which I am sure will receive comments. Even if not true, it should give you a smile!

At the end of WW2 37 complete Me 262’s were shipped to a location near present day Las Vegas in Nevada. They had been carefully dismantled in Germany and shipped in packing crates marked PROPERTY OF NORTH AMERICAN AVIATION. Busy with the development of the F86 NA had the crates buried just north of the present day McCarran Airport and the site forgotten. Recently it was determined that the crates are buried under the Luxor Hotel and Casino which was built in 1992. Using the latest side drill technology and exploritory hole was bored by a recovery tean lead by actor Nicholas Cage. A remote camera determined that the crates are there but surprisingly filled with ground water. Recovery attempts will continue and the jets will be sold by auction at a date and location to be determined.

Take a look on the map – the Luxor is to the West of McCarren, very slightly WSW depending where you take it from. To the North North East is Nellis and Im pretty sure the USAF won’t like their taxiway being dug up either.

Wasn’t the issue that aircraft instruments were buried, under a lot of seawater? 😀

NO, It definitely mentioned aircraft.

Gosh…….

If they put a camera down there – lets see the photos….:)

According to the normally-reliable IMDB, Nick Cage is still with us;-http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000115/bio

That ol’ rumour-mill keeps on a-churning…… Could almost be a song…!

Another week and we’ll be reading ‘Crated Spitfires Found by Elvis Under Vegas Strip-Club’….!

I could believe it, did you see the Arado Blitz’s i Posted a link to in the buried Spitfire thread, you can see them on the riverbank where the soil has gone.

No, I barely read 2% of that thread.

For a start – no where near 37 complete 262s were shipped to the US. Plenty of documentation on those that were, even if a couple ‘disappeared’ from public displays in the late forties.

YAWN. Oh, hello, have I missed anything? I fell asleep while the Spitfires were being dug.

No, just more rumours?

Post Burma it looks as if Mr Cundall is going to be a busy bee. Possibly.

Still if he runs short of funds he can always run upstairs and put a 262 on 21 black.

Sounds like the script for Paint Your Wagon, scuttling around under casinos looking for gold.

One news source–don’t know how reliable–is saying Cage was just killed this morning in a jet-ski accident in the Turks & Caicos.

I see he died on both the 17th of January and the 5th of March.

Lots of low grade steel in Me262. Particularly the engines, nose and wing spars.

Just sayin….

Considering how deep the foundations of the Luxor go down, they must have buried them about 100ft below grade… He really needs to come up with a better plot for National Treaure III
