In a previous post I offered some Westland Whirlwind course notes for free and I am glad to say that they have gone to a good home.
I now have another set of course notes to offer for free. These are the notes from a Rolls Royce Technical School course on the Avon 200 series that my father undertook in 1960 just prior to being posted to RAF Wittering on Valiants. Of course the engines were also used in Hunters, Lightnings and Canberras amongst other aircraft.
The notes consist of 16 chapters as listed below
1 Introduction
2 Engine Construction
3 Gas Flows
4 Pyrometric system
5 Lubrication System.
6 Air cooling and sealing system
7 Fuel system
8 Air bleed valve and intake guide vanes
9 Anti icing system
10 Performance
11 Ignition system
12 Starting systems
13 Servicing
14 Flap blowing system
15 Re heat system
16 Water methanol system.
As before these notes are very technical but not up to AP standards however they are very interesting for those with an engineering bias. I would like them to go to a good home so if anyone would like them I will happily pass them on for nothing, all I ask is for the postage to be covered.

I was just about to ask you to send me your email address, but I see that you have done it. I will send you a link that will enable you to download the entire document.
Enjoy reliving your youth and have a beer on my behalf.

qp,
thanks , The electronic version would be great, save on postage. save the originals for someone who would really like them. we are just refreshing memories on Airflows temps and operations over a beer or two, so it is a memory refresher and re-living youth.

Hi,
Yes the notes are still available. I have actually now scanned the collection so they are available electronically if you’re interested. Obviously I still have the originals as well if that is what you would prefer.
Just let me know.
