Just a couple of weeks ago there were rumours of Planetair closing due to its direct competition with Jet2 on all of its services. Planetair basically were formed as an airline operating MD-83 – This was dropped and the chose to charter whole aircraft and sell the seats mainly via travel agents. The good news is they decided the only sucessful route to Tenerife was such a sucess they’ve decided to fly there twice a week (1 extra service) and are slowly reorganising with the latest announcement being a new Malta run on a Tuesday evening (presumably be an Air Malta A320 which was replacing the B733 on a route prooving flight for a few weeks).
These two routes with 3 weekly flights may not seem much, but all tour companies have to start somewhere and i’m sure that more will be on the way for next summer aiming to keep away from the LOCOs on most runs to the traditional destinations!
Good luck to them
