Great pictures Andy, really like the Icelandair scheme, think the blue and yellow go well together.

Thanks for that Bhoy. I was well aware UA’s presence (shoot, I’d better!) but I only had a vague notion of AA’s. I was correct in my assumption that AA would have a stronger presence than UA at LHR, and realized that they were also stronger than AC.

AC have 12 direct flights from LHR today (Sunday)…
Thanks for that Bhoy. You were all over that information. Not only do they serve their 3 main hubs, but Ottawa, St. Johns and Calgary, as well. Very impressive. I don’t think UA has this many frequencies into LHR, does AA?

compared to CX (which is beautiful).
Again, I agree 100%.

All the times I’ve been at LHR, I also see quite a few AC example, but not just the A330. I have seen A340’s and 767’s as well. I’m guessing they have quite a few dailies from all 3 of their hubs in LHR. Then again, you usually see quite a few AA and UA examples, as well. I remember one pic that was posted a year or so ago, had 7 UA birds parked in T3 at once.
AC have 12 direct flights from LHR today (Sunday)…
1* A330-300 to Calgary, Alberta
1* 767-300 to Calgary, Alberta
1* A330-300 to Montreal, Quebec
1* 767-300 to Ottawa, Ontario
1* 767-300 to St. Johns, Newfoundland
1* A330-300 to Toronto, Ontario
1* 747Combi to Toronto, Ontario
3* 767-300 to Toronto, Ontario
1* A330-300 to Vancouver, British Columbia
1* 767-300 to Vancouver, British Columbia
(the St. Johns flight continues on to Halifax, Nova Scotia if I remember correctly)

JAL had 3 flights on Friday – 1 777 and 2 747’s
Thanks for the comments all. 😀
By: Mark L - 9th May 2004 at 13:28
JAL have 2 or 3 flights into LHR depending on the day, I think two are from Narita and one is from Osaka?
By: davforr - 9th May 2004 at 10:19
Great pictures as usual
By: greekdude1 - 9th May 2004 at 09:00
How many flights do JL operate into LHR? Do they serve LHR from somewhere other than NRT?
By: tonyosborne - 9th May 2004 at 08:57
then you would get millions of deomstic (domestic) flights arriving – yawn.
The beauty of the domestic flights though is that you can practice your photography and get it right for the big and rare stuff that comes in like that great Etihad Airways jet you took in another thread. And you have to admit that BMI scheme is just the coolest…

A330Crazy – Great Pics – wish I could get down there again soon – damned work – oh well maybe this Friday depending on the weather. That JAL B777 – was it JA706J – if it is then it seems the only one they ever use on the route. I have now got about 15 pictures of it having seen it on two different occasions – Please send a different one JAL.

Putting CX and AI next to each other makes you realize how ugly AI’s livery is compared to CX (which is beautiful).
By: skycruiser - 9th May 2004 at 03:33
Bloody Hell!! Air India need a seriously decent livery change – that’s horrible!! Over to you Sandy!!
I agree 100%. It’s bad.
Nice pics.
By: greekdude1 - 9th May 2004 at 01:48
but the number of bmi A321s and British Airways A319s/A320s is ridiculous!
Well, yeah, Michael, seeing as they are based there. Go to ATL and you’re going to see a boatload of DL narrow bodies. Go to SFO, ORD, or IAD, you’re going to see a boatload of UA narrowbodies. And soforth.
By: RIPConcorde - 9th May 2004 at 01:33
Yeah, for me BA, AC and UA stood out as having the most widebody movements at LHR, with VS and AA behind them.

I know what you mean. When they are using 27R (is it?) for arrivals and you’re in the visitors centre, you can’t see the aircraft on approach, so when you see the other spotters putting their binoculars to their eyes and looking up the approach path you know something is coming and you get the hopes up and then it comes into view and it’s a BA A319! 🙂

Excellent shots again.
Someone mentioned Air Canada A330s and how many of them there are about at Heathrow, but the number of bmi A321s and British Airways A319s/A320s is ridiculous! You’d get one decent aircraft in (like a Cathay Pacific or Sinagpore 747), then you would get millions of deomstic flights arriving – yawn.
