Heres an update on the latest new routes being offered by the loco’s
easyJet
—————
easyJet has announced 3 brand new routes which will commence on 26th October 2003 from London Gatwick :
Marseille (Twice Daily)
Toulouse (Twice Daily)
Bilbao (Daily)
Prices will start from £40.98 return. This brings the number of routes offered by easyJet from London Gatwick to 17.
easyJet is also developing its growth network plans for the next 12 months. The airline will receive 16 new aircraft before the end of September 2004 and these will dramatically increase old and new services. easyJet is to expand largely in the London Market but most growth will be seen from London Luton. New routes will be launched to existing and brand new destinations. Having spent the last year concentrating on expanding new markets such as London Gatwick and Paris, easyJet have decided to increase more visitors to use London Luton.
Ryanair
————
Ryanair will “temporarily” cease the London Stansted – Strasbourg route as of September 24th 2003. This is due to the on going court case with Strasbourg Airport and Air France etc about Ryanair receiveing illegal aid for flying into Strasbourg (I’m not 100% sure about this case – someone may have to double check).
Therefore as of September 25th 2003, Ryanair will start a new twice daily London Stansted to Karlsruhe-Baden service. Karlsruhe-Baden is 40km away from Strasbourg. Air Berlin did fly a daily Bae 146 service on this route at the beginning of this summer season – will Ryanair be able to make the route a success?

I find Ryanair’s comments that Strasbourg will lose a lot of tourism through the shift to Baden Baden quite amusing considering that just 40km away from Strasbourg is quite close by RyanAir standards, certainly close enough to be called Strasbourg.
