Few more i got.
The Emirates 773 was an ebay win, and the other two came from Singapore.

It appears that the model has a vortilon which was only found on the DC-9-10 or -30 series I believe. Just in front of the main gear you can see the vortilon jutting out.
Here’s a picture a DC-9-10 where you can see the vortilon.

…and a picture of the AA DC-9-87
EDIT: Upon further looking it seems that the vortilon has stuck with the whole DC-9 series and is still visible on -80 series as well albeit it tough to see unless the leading edges are up which is pretty rare to get a picture of.

I checked up the registration of that AA on a.net, it’s an ex-Reno Air MD-87. It’s currently with Aeromexico, with the same registration (N753RA).

Well, firstly, Andrew, what an excellent registration. And I’m sure that skycruiser mentioned last year shortly before the UEFA Cup final that he’d just flown it a couple of days ago from LHR to HKG, so, yes, he has flown it at least once.

I enjoy Collecting Models, the problem is storing them as they can sometimes take up loads of room and ebay is a great place to buy models really cheap!!(you probobly already Know this)

Cathay Pacific’s “Asia’s World City” Livery. (B-HOY) – Skycruiser, have you had the chance to fly this beauty?

Just done some more serious visa card bashing, this time at www.thresholdaviation.com. my god the Canadian Dollar exchange rate is so good just now !
Ordered an Eva Air 744, a Corsair “Sun” 742 and a Qantas 744 all brand new for the equivalent of £40 including international air mail ! 😮
Looking forward to an Air Holland 767 from Taiwan as well now !

Am I imagining things, or did Herpa also do a JMC A320?
Herpa did make a limited edition A320 in the JMC Air colours. It was on a 1/500 scale and certainly not something you would want in your collection. Because of it’s size, the quality and detail was very poor. It also had out-of-scale, chunky wheels on it. More of a toy than a collector’s item.
Also, Gemini Jets do make an Air 2000 757-200, one of which is up for sale on ebay.co.uk at the moment for £14.99. Get it on ebay.com for about £6.00.
Here is the Gemini Jets DC-10, registration G-LYON. I bought this one because I flew on it nearly four years ago. This is also the aircraft that was pictured on the cover of Airliner World’s September 2000 edition!
A top selection of models as well, Andrew! 🙂

Thanks for that Bhoy, and I should have figured it was an ex-Reno bird as I just did a doubletake and realized that it is painted in the interim ‘white’ livery. All the ex-Reno birds took on this livery before being phased out by AA. The only time I’ve ever flown on AA (first and last) was on one of the ex-Reno MD90’s in this same livery (SNA-SFO).

Wonder why you don’t really get many of the charter carriers in these scales.
Because the main manufacturers are catering for the US and Asian markets apart from the worldwide BA fanclub of course.
Gemini did a nice Air 2000 757 though it has to be said.

There’s a Gemini JMC DC-10, too.

I know there was an Air 2K Gemini 757 and I think there is a BY TUI 757 from Herpa, but I think thats about it. Bring on some Monarchs and maybe Excel. Some old skool models like Orion or Ambassador would be good. Seem to remember seeing a CKT Tristar at one point.

Very nice models!

That AA looks too short to be an MD-80, and I don’t think they ever operated the DC-9.

Nice stuff Andy, I just missed out on an EK 773 recently myself. I’ve got some on order just now, namely an Air Force One 747, an Air Atlanta Europe 742, a Cargolux 744 and a Caledonian L10-11 Tristar. 😀
