Anyone care to have a guess at the venue/event?

EAP stands for Experimental Aircraft Programme. It was at Cosford when i went there along time ago and i managed to slip into one of the hangers.

Sure is! As I recall as the Vulcan climbed out, a hard roll and turn to right was executed.
It stands out particularly well in my mind as it was incredible seeing a Vulcan controlled in such a manner – truly awesome!

Is the first Vulcan shot being shown at the correct angle?
What I mean is, the wing and rudder configuration would indicate it is commencing, or engaged in, a heavy roll to the right.

I am sorry to say that your information is wrong concerning the EAP!
She is alive and well at loughborough university where she was exchanged for the jaguar act that is now at cosford.
this bit you are refering to were mockups and jig modules.
i believe when the typhoon testing is complete one of them will go there too so you may see the eap at cosford soon. well we hope.

It was used as the airframe demomonstrator for what is now Typhoon but politics intervened when they built it when the germans pulled out (and eventually came back in) of the programe. As they were responsible for the rear fuselage they had to heavily modify a Tornado to get it flying. The airframe was broken up about 4-5 years ago and stored on the southside of the airfield and subsequently scrapped at the beginning of last year along with some Comet bits off what is now the Nimrod Iron Bird rig. The engines went on to be fitted to DA2 (Typhoon prototype) while the new Eurojet EJ200s were built and could be fitted.

EAP?
I remember having a huge poster of EAP on my bedroom wall!
What was EAP and where is it now???
Did it really use all those tornado parts???
Does it have anything to do with Eurofighter???
By: topgun regect - 30th January 2004 at 23:28
EAP – Glorified fixed wing Tornado, it used a Tornado centre and rear fuselage with modified engines, reworked Tornado F3 fin and a Tornado canopy and back wheels

Youre probably right. Should have catalogued all my old photos.
This one was taken at Leuchars.

Der,
I have a shot of this Herc at the 1st Great Warbirds show at Wroughton, near Swindon – but it was 1993, not in the 80’s (just dug out the piccie to make sure)

SPIT – well done! You’re spot on. Surprised you got that one.
It was indeed the 25th anniversary show at Scampton, which I think was in 1988 or 89.

Anybody see this beastie mid 80’s?
